WORKS ON ALL MAJOR CAMERA BRANDS
Rooted in soft tones, filmic contrast, and earthy textures. I developed this pack over years of experience shooting on film and digital shooting everything from portraits to landscapes and even motorsports. There are many packs out there that completely try to emulate an exact film stock and although it can get close, it ends up taking away from some of the pros of a modern digital sensor. This pack aims to use the best of both worlds to achieve what I think is the perfect middle ground. These are the presets I personally use as a starting point on all of my projects and now you can have them for yours.
INCLUDED ARE 4 DIFFERENT LOOKS
TLFILM - This is what I would say is my signature look and is designed to amplify what is already there in a good RAW image but ads in some characteristics I love from film. This to me is the perfect blend between digital clinical images while adding in the filmic textures, color shifts, and light tonality. This is a go to preset for everything landscapes to portraits. Originally made for landscape and lifestyle work but I use it for portraits all the time and the skin tones are amazing in great light. I have tried for years to get the greens to look a certain way and I always find that any film stock I shoot on renders green so well… this is the closest I have ever come and i’ve never been more pleased. It utilizes the dynamic range of the camera in a. way that doens’t make it seem super “HDR” and really matches that of film latitude. Excited for you guys to have this one. It is heavily stylized, bold, but still versatile for everything.
TL400 - This is my take on something a little more similar to Portra 400. It is a beautiful starting point for an edit that leans warm but slightly teal and highlights that roll softly into a magenta. I love this and use it often as it makes up about 50% of my color work. I honestly like this more than Portra itself sometimes when I shoot side by side with it. I typically lean towards this preset while working on portraits as the skin tones in this one are beautifully natural and peachy. I use this one when I actually want my images to look more like a traditional film scan straight out of the Frontier scanner.
FEEL B&W - This is a unique black and white that I created based off of a Music video for The Band Feel I was hired to shoot stills on. The Director was shooting the video in black and white so I created a look that matched that. It is a gritty and contrasty B&W and is made to look like Hollywood crime drama that made in the 1950s but still not trying to take away from all the pros of digital sensors. I ended up loving it so much I was using it on all my other black and white work when I wanted something slightly more dramatic and it became my go to starting point for images like that.
TL B&W Editorial - This is a beautifully soft B&W that makes all the shadows and highlights room so smoothly into each other while still providing enough micro contrast to make the image pop. This works beautifully, specially on portraits but can be used on other things as well. This preset makes things look like a painting while still keeping everything sharp and clean.
